2017 visit to the Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham

A group of about 14 from the Washingborough Group, had a pilgrimage to the Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham on the 15th, 16th and 17th of September 2017. We joined up with a group from the Walsall Deanery from the Diocese of Lichfield and met up for out first meeting on the Friday evening, which was a Pilgrims' Mass in the Barn Chapel in the Shrine grounds.

On Saturday we were up bright and early for Breakfast, before our Rector, George, led us through the Stations of the Cross, followed by Intercessions in the Shrine Church.

On Saturday afternoon after lunch there was a coach trip out to Sheringham, although some of us (OK one of us!) made a trip to the Chocolate Factory Shop in Fakenham, where assorted chocolate products were purchased. This proved to be quite a fruitful trip as we all enjoyed an assortment of chocolates later that evening.

At 6:00pm there was a Concelebrated Mass of our Lady, followed by supper and then the procession of our Lady (with one of the Washingborough servers acting as Thurifer), with copious quatities of incense.

Sunday morning was a leisurely affair with Breakfast at 8:00am followed by a stroll down to the local Parish Church, for one of the best High Mass services I have been to for a while.

In the afternoon was the "Sprinkling at the Well" (a real "must" if you have never done it before!) which included the laying on of hands and anointing.

The last service was the Procession of the Blessed Sacrement (with even more incense) before we packed our bags and made out way home, somewhat exhausted, but definitely spiritually replenished!
